VULTURE
extended beyond the horizon
About VULTURE
VULTURE is a maritime-optimized tethered UAS that extends over-the-horizon command and control by elevating communications and sensors above surface-level obstructions. Designed for persistent surveillance and port security missions, it provides continuous ISR and reliable beyond-line-of-sight connectivity from ships, USVs, and fixed maritime infrastructure. By maintaining stable, elevated coverage for extended periods of time, VULTURE enables operators to monitor, coordinate, and control assets across complex coastal and littoral environments.
System Dimensions
VULTURE’s enclosure features an integrated UAV hangar system that simplifies deployment and storage. With the press of a button, the enclosure’s lift mechanism raises the UAV from its protected housing, ready for immediate launch without manual setup. When the mission is complete, the UAV automatically retracts back into the hangar, safely stowed and shielded from the elements: salt fog, rain, dust, and snow. This design not only enhances reliability and longevity but also enables rapid redeployment and secure transport between missions.
Conops
VULTURE provides persistent surveillance for maritime operations by elevating advanced EO/IR sensors high above the ship, maintaining continuous visual coverage over wide ocean and coastal areas.
For port security, VULTURE enables long-duration monitoring of vessel traffic and restricted zones without interruption, ensuring real-time situational awareness and rapid threat detection.
over-the-horizon command & control
Shipboard command-and-control is limited to line-of-sight, which is typically constrained by the radar horizon. VULTURE extends a ship’s command-and-control range by elevating communications payloads high above the mast. By maintaining that elevated position through a persistent, tethered link, VULTURE enables reliable connectivity far beyond a ship’s traditional means of communication.
